City Year Chicago South Side Service Day!

REGISTER HERE FOR CITY YEAR CHICAGO’S SOUTH AND WEST SIDE SERVICE EVENTS!

This Saturday, May 7th, City Year Chicago is hosting its annual South Side Service Day! For the past few years, this event has been a special way for corps members and south side residents to come together for a day of powerful and transformative service.

Corps members and volunteers will be doing service at Wadsworth Elementary in the Woodlawn community.

This year we will head to Woodlawn, partnering with Wadsworth Elementary, the Woodlawn Community School, and the Children of Woodlawn Garden. We have a range of service projects lined up for Saturday’s event. Volunteers will transform both schools with fresh coats of paint and brighten hallways with murals of motivational quotes, mascots and famous book covers. They will also tackle construction projects, building bookshelves and planter benches.

Woodlawn has a rich history in the city of Chicago and is one of the south side’s most prominent neighborhoods. The Woodlawn community is also home to one of City Year’s partner schools and many of our students. We are so excited to be able to serving in Woodlawn this weekend and to be giving back to the community.

In order to make the day a success, City Year’s south side teams are looking for 250 volunteers to come and serve alongside us! We are slated to have students from local schools and colleges as well as community members, but there is plenty of room for more! If you’re interested in volunteering for SSSD, check out the City Year Chicago website to register. See the link at the top of the page.
