Last week, one of the biggest days for City Year Chicago came around: Our annual Ripples of Hope Award Dinner! This year, we honored two of City Year Chicago’s biggest champions, Jean-Claude Brizard of Chicago Public Schools and Frank M. Clark of ComEd. Throughout the evening, over 350 guests were able to speak with corps members and hear stories of their service as told by themselves and some very special guests: students and principals from the schools we serve in.
Robbie Gould, Chicago Bears Kicker and Founder of The Goulden Touch public charity, started the night off with a donation to City Year Chicago and then Casey Keller, President, of the Wrigley Jr. Company and City Year Chicago Board Chair introduced Corps Member Trisha Manns and a freshman at the Al Raby School for Community & Environment. Principal James T. Schwartz of the Al Raby School for Community & Environment followed his student on stage with some very kind words about the City Year team’s work in his school.
After dinner, Ellen Costello, CEO and U.S. Country Head of BMO Financial Corp. introduced honoree Frank M. Clark then Corps Member Amy Langendorf took the stage with a senior Amy works with at Manley Career Academy High School. The Manly senior thanked Amy and the City Year team for all that they do at Manley before introducing the evenings final honoree, Jean-Claude Brizard.
